WHY do I need Jesus?
I am a good, moral person

When the first man Adam, created by God in His own image, disobeyed God, it broke the intimate relationship between God and Adam. Adam and all of his descendants, including you and I, lost our God-given nature and became naturally evil (sinful).

Genesis 1:27 So God created man in his [own] image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

Ephesians 2:3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

Because of our sin/rebellion, no matter how small or big, against God and His perfect design for us, we all deserve to die.

Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

God required the shedding of blood to cover actions of disobedience (sin/rebellion against Him).

Hebrews 9:22 And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.

Leviticus 17:11 For the life of the flesh [is] in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it [is] the blood [that] maketh an atonement for the soul.

Jesus Christ, left his place in heaven with Father God, became a human being, lived a perfect life as a human and always obeyed Father God.

John 6:38 For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.

Hebrews 5:8 Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered; 9 And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;

Jesus was crucified on a cross and died in our place.  Since he did not sin in any way, he died for the sins of each one of us.  It is through him that we can enter back into relationship with Father God.

Acts 4:10 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, [even] by him doth this man stand here before you whole. 11 This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. 12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

1Timothy 2:5 For [there is] one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; 6 Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Hebrews 10:19 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,

Jesus became our example of living life by listening to what Father God wants us to do.

John 5:19 Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.

John 5:30 I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.

Which path will you choose?

will you accept Jesus as Savior?

To accept him as Savior says to him, “Jesus, I want your blood to cover my sins against God”. Jesus Christ is the only way for your sins before God to be removed from you: to save you from the death you deserve as one who rebels against God.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

will you accept Jesus as Lord?

In other words, are you ready to give up control of your life and give it to Jesus? – That is what it means to have him as Lord of your life. When you ask him into your heart he will transform your heart from one who rebels against God and chooses your own way, to one who seeks to obey the voice of God and His word.

Matthew 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

1John 1:6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

ACCEPT Jesus Christ
... as your Savior?
... as your Lord?

With your mouth and in your heart, pray ...

“Forgive me Father God for rebelling against you; for choosing to live my life the way I want instead of the way you want me to live it. Jesus Christ, I accept your perfect life and sacrificed blood to cover all of my wrong before Father God. Jesus, I commit to becoming a disciple of you, the only one who lived a perfect life and was obedient in everything Father God instructed you to do. I will allow Holy Spirit, who God gave to us, to guide my choices in life and to direct me in becoming more like you Jesus. I no longer claim the right to live my life the way I want and rebel against God’s plan for how I should live my life.  l give all rights to you, Jesus.”

REJECT Jesus Christ
... as your Savior?
... as your Lord?

Revelation 20:10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet [are], and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

John 12:47 And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world. 48 He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.

Luke 16:22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; 23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. 24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. 25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. 26 And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that [would come] from thence. 27 Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father’s house: 28 For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment. 29 Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them. 30 And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent. 31 And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.

Don’t believe Jesus was a real person?  Neither did many people throughout history until they objectively reviewed the evidence.  Here are a couple examples you might find interesting.

  • Lee Strobel’s book or movie The Case for Christ: he set out to disprove Jesus existed because his wife became a Christian.

  • Simon Greenleaf’s book: he was a Harvard Law professor who thought Jesus and his resurrection was a myth until a group of his students challenged him to review the facts based on the rules of evidence he proclaimed in his three-volume legal approach to reviewing and presenting evidence.
